What is Social Innovation?

Asset-based * Cross-sector * Engaging

Social Innovation combines the income generating practices of business with the mission-driven practices of nonprofits to create positive social change.

Sound ConneXions’s processes enable organizations and communities to work together to harvest the the skills, resources, and passions that reside within them, and to develop them into projects, products and services for the common good of civil society.  Social innovations necessarily provides an income-producing benefit that results in a social enterprise that can become self-generating and less reliant on foundation grants, donations and charity.

Social Innovation serves the needs and aspirations of a community as it generates enterprising new ways to improve local economies. The community relationships that result from the shared interests, and collaborative projects born from social innovation often lead to the creation and restoration of vitality within communities and businesses.  Social innovations are environmentally beneficial, economically sustainable, and engaging for all.  The projects we work on are often cross-disciplinary, and fall into one or more of the following areas of  community development:

  • Arts and Culture
  • Education
  • Health and Wellness
  • Environment and Ecology
  • Local Economic Development
